The Lewisville ISD Board of Trustees will feature two new faces when it meets Monday.

Christina Madera took in some sunshine at Stewarts Creek Park in The Colony on Saturday. Music playing loudly for inspiration, the art club sophomore at The Colony High School glided her paintbrush across her "canvas" carefully as boats passed by, catching a glimpse of her work.

Fifth- and eighth-graders across the state now know whether their performance on the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR) test was good enough to advance to the next grade level.

The Colony has been named a finalist in the National Civic League's 2013 All-American City Award for the first time and city leaders are preparing a presentation hoping to receive the prestigious award.

The Lewisville ISD Board of Trustees candidates discussed a variety of issues during a debate Saturday at Flower Mound Town Hall.

State Representative Pat Fallon (R-Frisco) recently established a dynamic new internship program in House District 106 aimed at encouraging high school students to learn about and become engaged in the political process. The search began as an earnest attempt to find interns for the District Office located in Little Elm, but expanded into a larger initiative after realizing the potential impact that involving more young people may have on the community.

A favorite event in The Colony is moving to Lewisville. Chalk This Way, first hosted by Lakeside Arts Foundation in March 2011, is saying goodbye this spring and relocating to Lewisville after a successful two-year run in The Colony.

As Lewisville ISD continues to use its strategic design concept to transform the way its students learn, two changes could be on the horizon when it comes to grade reporting.

The Colony residents are seeing an influx of new Ford Explorers in town thanks to a City Council-approved purchase of new police vehicles.

It was a busy week for The Colony Police Department, as its Special Response Team and Criminal Investigations Division rounded up a group of criminals charged with forgery and possession of a controlled substance.

Fire swept through two homes in the Colony during the early Thursday morning damaging both homes and injuring two firefighters.

That's right, it's time for the annual Spring Clean-Up where city residents can bring trash and refuse to the Hawaiian Falls parking lot and dump the junk for free thanks to a partnership between the city and Republic Waste Services.
