The 9th Annual SANTA FE DAYS on the Square, in Historic Downtown Carrollton, TX off I-35E @ exit 443B Beltline road kicks off at 9:00am (line-up at VFW on Elm), Saturday October 13th with Grand Entry. All Veterans are encouraged to participate so that we may honor your service to our country. The Traditional American Indian Flag Ceremony will be led by the only all-combat, American Indian Veteran�s Color Guard, the �Renegade Nation�.

This free, family-friendly, non-profit, Native American Indian cultural event features; over 40 American Indian Artists and Craftsman, Championship Plains Indian Dancers, Evelio Flores� Aztec Dancers- Mitotiliztli Yaoyollohtli, and Southern Drum-Bear Claw Singers.

Featured Vietnam Veteran Artist, ARNULFO PE�A, paints traditional Southwest images as well as powerful representations of his experience as a Vietnam War Veteran. Mr. Pe�a gifted this year�s event, a special painting, WE WERE ALWAYS THERE to highlight the contributions of American Indian soldiers who have served our country.

Special guest is CHESTER NEZ. Mr. Nez is the last surviving WWII Navajo Code Talker of the original 29, a Congressional Gold Medal of Honor recipient and author of CODE TALKER; the only memoir written by a Navajo Code Talker. Chester Nez and co-author Judith Avila will be autographing books available for purchase at the event.

TONY DUNCAN, 2011 World Championship Hoop Dancer/ Canyon Records Apache Cane Flute Artist, will be returning this year and performing with musical group ESTUN-BAH. This year Tony is featured Hoop Dancing with Nelly Furtado in her hit video/song, BIG HOOPS. Tony has just returned from an international world tour and will be bringing his new CD- EARTH WARRIOR and DVD�s for purchase.

The INTERACTIVE CULTURAL PATH on Elm Street highlights free cultural education and experiential fun. Learn about beadwork, pottery, basket making, dream catchers and other crafts. Enjoy Traditional children�s games and storytelling by Apache Story Teller-Gregory Gomez as well as the popular INDIGENOUS GROCERY STORE exhibit, sponsored by the Memnosyne Foundation. The FOOD AS MEDICINE booth, developed by the Indigenous Institute of the Americas, returns with the consultation of Dr. Patrisia Gonzales �Kickapoo-University of Arizona . Dr. Gonzales will be autographing her new book, RED MEDICINE. Come and experience the sights, sounds and time honored traditions of the Native American Indian community. Jewelry, pottery, paintings, fetish carvings and other traditional artifacts and well as Indian Tacos and Fry bread will be available for purchase.
