FBI, police seek man who likely robbed nine banks

The FBI Bank Robbery Task Force is joining with local police departments in looking for a man who is believed to have robbed nine area banks, including two in Carrollton, since Dec. 31.
He is believed to be the person who robbed the Bank of the West in Carrollton last Wednesday and Capitol One Bank in Addison and ViewPoint Bank in Carrollton Thursday.
He also is the suspect in the robbery of the Capitol One Bank in Garland on February 7, and in the robbery of banks in Dallas between Dec. 31 and Jan. 31.
He said police believe the same man did the same thing again Thursday at the ViewPoint Bank at 1801 Keller Springs Road.
He said the lone male suspect was described as having a dark complexion, six feet tall, weighing 170 to 180 pounds, wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt, and black pants with a white stripe down each leg.
“The suspect fled the locations prior to officers’ arrival,” Stovall said. “No one was injured during the robberies. A joint investigation by the Carrollton Police Department and the FBI Dallas field office is ongoing.”
According to an FBI report, the robber may have sustained chemical burns during a Jan. 31 robbery at Capital One Bank in Dallas. The report said his clothing and skin may have also been dyed red.
In several robberies, bank surveillance photos show him wearing a large watch on his left wrist and a distinctive hat.
Katherine Chaumont of the FBI said, “The suspect is considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with information is urged to call the Dallas office of the FBI at 972-559-5000 or the North Texas Crime Stoppers tipline at 1-877-373-TIPS (8477). A reward may result from information leading to an arrest and/or conviction.”
