The Dallas County Medical Examiner has positively identified three of the four deceased persons found in a Mesquite home Wednesday morning. They have been identified as Marcelo Vazquez, 42, and his children, Alejandro Vazquez, 18, and Paulina Vazquez, 21.

The ME's office is still working to identify the remaining person, an adult female.

Mesquite police are continuing their investigation into the deaths at a residence in the 1400 block of Paintbrush, where officers on Wednesday reportedly discovered the bodies of two adult males and two adult females.

Officers initially responded to a 911 call at the residence at approximately 6:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 9. The caller reported hearing gunfire. When officers arrived on the scene there appeared to be nothing amiss outside the residence and no signs of forced entry. Officers attempted to make contact with the residents at the home but were unsuccessful.

The officers also talked to a neighbor who did not hear or see anything unusual. The officers left the scene but returned two additional times that morning attempting to make contact.

Officers returned for a follow-up to the residence at approximately 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday. The same officer who visited the residence on Saturday noticed that there was mail in the mailbox and newspapers in the yard. The decision was made to force entry into the locked home, at which point the officers discovered the bodies.

"When we get calls sometimes we don't have enough information to force entry into a residence. The officer that responded to the call was off and came back to work today and went back to the residence on a follow-up. He noticed a few things and felt he had enough information to force entry into the residence. That is when we discovered the four bodies," said Cpt. Doug Yates, Mesquite police spokesman.

At this point, the circumstances surrounding the deaths are undetermined, but a handgun was located near one of the deceased.

More information will be released as it becomes available.

" "At this point, the circumstances surrounding the deaths are undetermined." So, why is there even a mention of a handgun being "located near one of the deceased?"
Obviously if the handgun was the cause of the deaths there would be wounds indicating so and the cops would have stated they were 'Shooting Deaths.'
It appears this reporter, Kenny Green, is attempting to add an element to the killings that is irrelevant ... though it does give gun control nuts something to gnash on. "
