Metrocrest Chamber names citizen, ambassador of year

The Metrocrest Chamber of Commerce has named the citizen of the year and the ambassador of the year for 2012.
Ben Cunningham, founder and CEO of Liberty Capital Bank, has been named to be the recipient of the Milburn Gravley Citizen of the Year for 2012 and William Webb, founder and CEO of Furniture by William Webb, has been named as the recipient of the Dave Oldfield Ambassador of the Year for 2012.
The two men will accept the awards at the 44th Annual Metrocrest Chamber of Commerce Awards Banquet set for Feb. 15 at the Dallas/Addison Marriott Quorum by the Galleria.
When told that he was to be the recipient of the 2012 Citizen of the Year award, Cunningham said, “This award means so much to me. To be the first recipient of this award after it was named for Milburn, a man I am proud to have called a close friend and someone for whom I had so much respect, is very humbling. He was the epitome of what any community, any friend, any organization would want. He represented everything this award is supposed to mean.”
Gravley served as a Carrollton city council member and mayor for many years.
Tracy Eubanks, Metrocrest Chamber of Commerce president, said, “Ben Cunningham is a leader in this community in many ways. He has literally invested in this area for decades, giving of his expertise, his time and business to help others in our Metrocrest area.”
Webb, being told of his upcoming award, said, “Representing the Metrocrest Chamber of Commerce as its 2012 Ambassador of the Year is a great honor. I take my position in representing the chamber to heart. My job is to keep all persons and businesses informed of the chamber and its capability ikn the community. I enjoy my ambassador role in advocating for the chamber and its members, and helping to connect and integrate our thriving business community.”
The Metrocrest Chamber’s 2012 Ambassador of the Year award is sponsored by Element Moving & Storage. It is given annually to an outstanding volunteer representative of the chamber.

A reception will begin at 6 p.m., with an dinner and awards ceremony to follow at 7 p.m.
