Meek seeks third term
By J. David Barron, dbarron@starlocalnews.com
Highland Village city council representative William Meek announced his intent to run for re-election. He is currently unopposed in his race for Place 7 on the council. Deadline for candidates to file to run for city council is March 1. The election is May 11.
Meek said the impetus for him seeking re-election is to continue the business at hand for Highland Village.
"I had never served in public office until four years ago and it has been a learning experience and, basically, I feel like that our city council has accomplished a lot of things that we are very proud of," Meek said. "We are in the process of completing our hike and bike trails as well as improving our parks. We are also in the process of trying to finish up all the landscaping on both sides of FM 2499, as well as the median.
"They are combined a huge improvement to our city as well as the surrounding cities. It's all one big project for all of our neighbors," Meek said. "I like the process of continuing to be a good neighbor. I'm very proud of Highland Village. It's a unique little city."
