Published: Tuesday, February 12, 2013 2:13 PM CST
The 10-4A race is down to just a single game, but there is still plenty up for grabs in terms of playoff seeding.

Carrollton Newman Smith, West Mesquite, Highland Park and North Forney are all locked in for postseason spots, but no team is locked into a seed.

The Wranglers remained in a tie for second place with Highland Park thanks to a 72-59 victory over Carrollton Creekview on Friday.

West Mesqutie opened the game on a 17-8 run and held a 48-33 lead through three quarters before holding off a late charge by the Mustangs.

Braylon Rayson scored 22 points, Jordan Johnson had 18 and Tyrone Davis was also in double figures with 12. Creekview got 19 points from Ranjit Mason and 14 from Alex Rincon.

Poteet dropped its third consecutive game with a 65-53 setback to Carrollton Newman Smith.

The Pirates gave the district leaders all they could handle through three quarters and trailed 44-42 heading to the fourth, but the Trojans outscored them 21-11 down the stretch.

Raffaele Gaines led Poteet with 18 points with Verkedrick Vaughns adding 12. Stephen Spurlock and Darion Brown scored 18 and 12 points, respectively, for Newman Smith.
