For three quarters, Sunnyvale had a tough time shaking Howe, its first-round opponent in the Class 2A playoffs.

But the Raiders finally landed the knockout blow they had been looking for, closing the game on a 13-2 run to post a 50-39 victory on Tuesday in a bi-district playoff game at Anna High School.

Sunnyvale (21-8), which extended its winning streak to 11 in a row, will face state-ranked Ponder later this week at a time and place to be determined.

The Raiders held a modest 29-24 lead at halftime but scored only six points in the third quarter as Howe came back to tie the game at 35-35 going to the fourth.

Sunnyvale took charge from there on both sides of the court, limiting Howe to just four points in the final frame.

Josh Quinn had 13 points, Stephen Kirven scored 12 and Lawson Ayo chipped in with eight for the Raiders.
