The 23-4A race is quickly becoming a three-team affair as Forney, Poteet and West Mesquite have already established some distance between themselves and the rest of the pack.

The Wranglers (3-0-0-0, nine points) stayed unbeaten on Friday with a 3-1 victory over North Forney.

West Mesquite got two goals from Brandon Carillo and Isai Velasquez also found the back of the net.

The Wranglers are now tied for second place with Poteet, who had a bye on Friday.

Those teams are both looking up at Forney (4-0-0-0), which with an extra game in hand, moved into sole possession of first place with a 3-0 victory over Kaufman.

The first head-to-head showdown between the teams occurs on Tuesday when Forney travels to play Poteet at 7:15 p.m. at Mesquite Memorial Stadium.

West Mesquite will either move into second place by itself or find its way in a three-way tie for first if it can defeat Kaufman on the road on Tuesday.
