Strong start: North girls soccer rolling along

While some other area teams may be dealing with a slew of serious early-season injuries and losses, all things considered, McKinney North girls soccer head coach Lance Lovell says his team is doing just fine.

"I think we're doing pretty well," Lovell said. "So far so good. We're battling through a few nagging injuries right now, but nothing major."

The Lady Bulldogs (6-1-3) are off to a hot start with only one loss in their first 10 games, dropping a 2-0 contest Tuesday night to their cross-town rival, the McKinney Lionettes.

Sidekicks enjoy sweet revenge

Published: Saturday, January 12, 2013 10:12 PM CST
Behind a stellar effort in goal from Sagu, the Dallas Sidekicks avenged their only loss of the season with a convincing 6-2 thumping of the Chicago Mustangs in front of 4,015 delighted fans Saturday at the Allen Event Center.

The Sidekicks (9-1) strengthened their hold on their PASL Central Division lead over Chicago (9-3) following their 8-7 overtime defeat to the Mustangs last week in Chicago.

Sidekicks Coach Tatu said the win was much more important than just the revenge factor.

"They are a difficult team to play against," he said. "They work hard and they are physical, so I thought we did well.

"This was big tonight," Tatu said, noting the upcoming schedule featuring two games against undefeated San Diego, along with a date at Southwestern Division leader Las Vegas. "We have to make sure we continue to win games if we want to get in the playoffs and have home field [advantage]."
