HOCKER
Mr. George Melvin Hocker Jr. of McKinney, Texas, passed away January 16, 2013.
He was born on November 29, 1943, in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, the son of Dorothy Jean and George Melvin Hocker Sr.
He served in the United States Air Force after high school before attending college. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Shippensburg University. An international salesman for the shoe and garment industry provided him the opportunity to travel to more than 56 countries.
George is survived by his wife of 48 years, Jan Ella Hocker of McKinney; children Staci Gregory of Schertz, Texas, Terry Hocker of Sherman, Texas, and Sonya Knight of McKinney; his mother, Dorothy Hocker of Nashville, Tennessee; his sisters Kathy Chester and Jill Herring; brother, Terry Hocker; 10 grandchildren; and many beloved family members.
He was preceded in death by his father, George Melvin Hocker Sr.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 23, 2013, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Charles W. Smith & Sons Funeral Home at 601 S. Tennessee Street, McKinney, Texas 75069.
Funeral services will take place on January 24, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Rev. Brad Sloan and Rev. James Moore will officiate. Burial will take place at 2:15 p.m. at DFW National Cemetery in Dallas, Texas.
