Few college football programs have a tradition at linebacker like Ohio State.

It's only fitting that the Buckeyes recruited one of the nation's best at the position, as Prestonwood Christian Academy senior Mike Mitchell announced his commitment to play for Ohio State Saturday at the U.S. Army All-American Bowl.

The Buckeyes received the nod over the likes of Texas A&M, Oregon and Oklahoma.

Mitchell, a 6-foot-4, 216-pound four-star recruit who is currently ranked No. 30 in the nation according to Rivals and No. 3 at linebacker, anchored the Prestonwood defense this season. As a senior, Mitchell totaled 190 tackles -- 17.3 per game --, four sacks, seven quarterback hurries and five forced fumbles with the Lions.

Also a contributor on special teams, Mitchell's 2012 campaign also includes a 100-yard kickoff return touchdown. Offensively, he rushed for 61 yards and two touchdowns on just seven carries.
