Northbound Highway 75 closures Thursday night in McKinney
Staff report
Published: Monday, January 7, 2013 5:23 PM CST
Weather permitting, the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) will close all lanes on northbound U.S. Highway 75 at Eldorado Parkway, including the frontage road, beginning at 10 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 10 through 6 a.m. the next morning.
This lane closure is necessary to place bridge beams for the Eldorado Parkway overpass under reconstruction. It is part of the construction for the expansion of U.S. 75 from Sam Rayburn Tollway to U.S. Highway 380, expected to be complete summer of 2015.
All northbound traffic will be detoured to Exit 38 C to take the northeast ramp to State Highway 5. This will channel traffic past the Medical Center Drive intersection while still allowing access to the Sam Rayburn Tollway and allowing traffic to exit prior to 38 C.
Eastbound Sam Rayburn Tollway traffic headed to northbound U.S. 75 will be detoured from the direct connect ramp to the Eldorado Parkway exit where signs will direct motorists to eastbound Marketplace Drive to northbound Medical Center, to eastbound Eldorado to westbound Park Central Drive, back to the northbound U.S. 75 frontage road.
The detours will be clearly marked and local law enforcement will be on site to assist in traffic control. Portable message boards have been placed to inform motorists of the closure. TxDOT thanks area motorists for their patience during this closure and encourages motorists to seek alternate routes through the area.
It is necessary for the safety of the traveling public to keep the main lanes and frontage road lanes closed during this operation as 10 bridge beams will be set overnight over the northbound main lanes and frontage road lanes.
TxDOT asks drivers to be cautious and patient as crews work diligently to re-open northbound U.S. 75 as soon as possible Friday morning.
