LegacyTexas Bank mails more than 500 troop care packages

Volunteers from LegacyTexas Bank recently mailed nearly 600 care packages to troops stationed around the world, making this holiday season a little brighter and warmer for United States military personnel. The mailing represents the culmination of a Lone Star Salute to Troops, a month-long effort that is the highlight of the bank’s annual Veterans Day celebration.

"We congratulate and thank our communities and all of North Texas for such an outpouring of gifts and well wishes for our troops,” said LegacyTexas Bank President Phil Dyer. “This is the largest number of packages we have mailed, and it speaks well of our customers and the entire region. People want to show appreciation to our military during this holiday season, and this salute is a great opportunity to do so.”

Personal care items and snack foods were gathered in collection boxes at each of the 20 locations of LegacyTexas Bank. Contributions were received from individuals and businesses throughout North Texas and assembled and boxed for shipping by bank volunteers and members of the North Texas Chapter of Blue Star Mothers. A member of the United States Marine Corps was also on hand for inspiration and help in assembling the care packages.

“Each year, we receive more and more notes and thank you cards from troops who have received our packages,” said Mr. Dyer. “It is clear how much they appreciate the kindness of a holiday package and personal note. It helps them know they are appreciated and that their service is not forgotten. I am grateful to our customers, friends and employees who give of their time to make this effort possible.”
