Search under way for new chamber president
By Dan Eakin, deakin@starlocalnews.com
Resumes are already coming in from applicants hoping to become the new president and CEO of the Coppell Chamber of Commerce.
Cliff Long, chamber chair-elect, said the chamber started advertising locally shortly after Tony Moline submitted his resignation a few weeks ago in order to take a similar position at Cedar Park.
Resumes are being accepted through Friday.
He said a search committee of six board members will look at applications, interview candidates and then narrow it down to four finalists.
Once the search committee is ready to make a recommendation, the 20-member chamber board of directors will vote on whether to hire the person the committee recommends.
Long said applications have been received from both men and women. He said several chambers in the area have female presidents.
Lori Young, chamber director of programs, will be performing the duties of chamber president and CEO until a new one comes on board.
Members of the search committee include Long; Casey Klein, current chamber chairman; Christi Greene, immediate past chair; Mindi Hurley, vice chair; Annette Ezell, vice chair; and David Blair, director.
The duties of a chamber president are numerous and a variety of skills are required.
The committee is hoping to find someone with experience in staff management, human resources policies and applicable labor law. The applicant hopefully will have had experience in all facets of chamber of commerce management. At least three years of senior management is required.
The president will represent the chamber at community meetings and events.
The president will also oversee the chamber’s sister foundation, the Coppell Community Development Foundation, a 501(c)3 organization.
