A search warrant was conducted early Friday morning by The Colony Police Department's criminal investigators and special response team.

The search took place in the 5700 block of Perrin Drive. The warrant stemmed from an investigation that revealed narcotic transactions were being conducted at the location.

Two arrest warrants for Gustavo Gutierrez, an individual who police say was responsible for conducting some of the transactions, accompanied the search warrant. Gutierrez, 33, was arrested for three counts of delivery of marijuana and one count of possession of marijuana over two pounds and under five pounds.

According to the department, each offense has been enhanced to third degree felonies because the transactions occurred in a drug-free zone. The department said an additional arrest will be forthcoming as a result of the search warrant.

"It is a drug free zone because it is within 1,000 feet of a school and a park," said Darren Brockway, public information officer for the department. "The individual does have a criminal history, but to my knowledge this will be the first drug arrests for him."

Information about drug operations and how they come to fruition must be vigilantly protected, Brockway said. He added that these operations are extremely dangerous and the methodology, if made public, would put lives at risk.

"The Colony Police Department will sometimes use most of the information outlets available, which may include anonymous tips, confidential informants, undercover operations, surveillance, and information from other law enforcement agencies," he said. "The Colony Police Department encourages cooperation from citizens and takes information regarding narcotic activities very seriously."

No one was injured during the execution of the search warrant.
