Rowlett entered the season with high hopes and it could not have started any better as they improved to 4-0 on the season with a 70-56 victory over Seagoville on Tuesday.

The Eagles opened a 10-point lead after one quarter and pushed the advantage to 57-40 through three quarters.

Jeffrey Carroll led all scorers with 23 points while Derrick Davis was also in double figures with 11.

Rowlett will compete in the Garland ISD Invitational on Thursday through Saturday and then hit the road to take on Frisco Centennial on Tuesday.

Mesquite and Horn were not as fortunate on Tuesday, as they fell to Duncanville and Lake Highlands, respectively.

The Skeeters (0-5) looked as if they were not only on their way to their first win, but also a major upset.

Behind 11 points each from Alex Cooper and Rashard Higgins, who both just joined the team after football season, Mesquite raced to a 24-9 lead.

Duncanville chipped away from there, though, getting back to within 44-34 through three quarters and then closing regulation with a 17-7 run to force overtime.

It was all Panthers from there, as they outscored the Skeeters 8-1 in the extra frame to pull out the 59-52 win.

Mesquite will compete in the Jesuit Knights of Columbus Tournament on Thursday through Saturday.

The Jaguars got 23 points from Anthony Sharp and 15 from Alan Hodge but it was not enough in a loss to Lake Highlands. The Jaguars overcame an early seven-point deficit with a 25-15 run in the second quarter to take the lead, but the Wildcats took control in the second half.

Horn will compete in the Carrollton-Farmers Branch Tournament starting on Thursday and then play at Plano East on Tuesday.
