Police arrest suspect in bomb threat hoax (updated)

By Chris Roark, croark@starlocalnews.com
The Flower Mound Police Department arrested 18-year-old Flower Mound resident Matt Pumphrey on Tuesday afternoon after connecting him to a bomb threat police say he made earlier in the day. Pumphrey is a student at Marcus High School.
Flower Mound Town Hall, the Shirley Voirin Social Senior Center and the Cross Timbers YMCA were evacuated at 1:30 p.m.
Police are not yet releasing the name of the suspect, but Capt. Wendell Mitchell said the threat was just a hoax. The suspect is being charged with making a terroristic threat, a Class A misdemeanor.
At 1:09 p.m., the Flower Mound Police Department received a report that a bomb threat was posted on a local Twitter user’s account from a person who saw the tweet.
Sources have said the Twitter message mentioned a red Acura in the parking lot that would explode.
There have also been reports of a bomb threat made in Farmers Branch the same day, but Mitchell said those two incidents are not related.
Eastbound traffic on Cross Timbers Road was temporarily diverted by 1:40 p.m.
The suspect was arrested at 2:18 p.m.
The investigation is ongoing.
The evacuated buildings were re-opened at approximately 2:30 p.m.
