World of artisan work convening in Fairview: Extraordinary pieces ready for holiday purchases
By J. David Barron, dbarron@starlocalnews.com
If you are looking for the perfect gift to complement your home or office - or simply to enrich your life - the Greater Dallas Fine Art Festival should satisfy your search.
Just in time for the holidays, more than 10,000 artists will descend upon the Village at Fairview with some of their extraordinary wares this weekend. Among the handcrafted original artwork are expected to be metalwork pieces, paintings, sculptures, digital art, jewelry, glass and ceramic artwork, woodworking and photography.
Hours of the festival are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Sunday. Admission and parking is free at The Village of Fairview, located at 329 Town Place in Fairview.
"Over the years we have learned that a reliable 'gauge' of how well-attended an event will be is the response of the community in contacting our office for additional information. Typically these calls begin two days before the event," said festival director Bill Kinney. "However, in the case of the Greater Dallas Fine Art Festival, we have received an unprecedented number of phone calls beginning the end of this past week - more than a week before the event. The number of calls continues to escalate, leading us to conclude the community is poised to turn out and support this event.
"The success of any new art event is ultimately determined by the response of the community - specifically, the public that come to appreciate and purchase artwork," Kinney said. "The event itself, the Greater Dallas Fine Art Festival, represents a unique and enthusiastic partnership among the local media, the Town of Fairview and The Village at Fairview. Their support and desire to help create this event is unmatched by any community we have worked with."
Paragon Art Events is promoting the Greater Dallas Fine Art Festival. For information about this year's festival, go to http://www.paragonartevents.com/dallas/ or contact Kinney at 631-421-1590 or at bill@paragonartfest.com.
