Plano resident, J.A. Dalley, published the first book in the Almek Manning Series earlier this year. The Zochtil, a science fiction novel, tells the story of Almek Manning, an eighteen year-old living in the bombed-out ruins of London who has a dream to reach for the stars. Almek hopes to escape from London Proper with the help of his squad of fellow detainees and join the Solar Fleet, so he can train at the Academy and help in the brewing conflict that is almost certain to result in interstellar war.
The book’s author, James, is a native of Plano who attended Williams High School in Plano before graduating from Richland Collegiate High School in Dallas, where he completed his high school diploma while simultaneously earning an Associate of Science degree. James is currently working on the second and third books of the Almek Manning Series and has just released the first book of the series in audio format.
The audio version of The Zochtil is read by award-winning narrator Nick Sullivan, who – in addition to having narrated over 300 audiobooks – has an impressive TV, film, and Broadway resume. Nick brings the book to life with unique character voices, excellent dialect, and entertaining narration that draw the reader into the story.
Reviews posted on Goodreads and Audible have been very positive, including the following:
- "J.A. Dalley creates a universe that draws you in and makes you feel as if you are right there with the characters";
- “The characters are engaging and interesting. The story is a fast-paced, action-packed experience”;
- “I will definitely get the second book as soon as it gets out!”
The Zochtil is available as an e-book from Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and iTunes and as a paperback from both Amazon and Barnes & Noble. It is now also available as an audiobook at Audible, Amazon, and iTunes.
