CFD gets three new vehicles

The Celina Fire Department's ability to fight fires and provide emergency services is improved with the purchase of three new vehicles.
“These vehicles are bigger, safer and more reliable,” Celina Fire Chief Mark Metdker said.
The new ambulance is a 2012 Frazer ambulance built on a new Dodge chassis. It cost $186,000.
The new brush truck is built on a one-ton Chevy chassis and carries the same amount of water as the old brush truck. It cost $82,000.
The third new vehicle is a command vehicle, a 2012 Chevy Suburban purchased for $70,000.
All three vehicle contain state-of-the art radio equipment.
“Equipment-wise the fire department is in the best shape it has every been in,” Metdker said. “We're extremely lucky to have this kind of council in place that has this kind of vision. The citizens of Celina have never been safer.”
The old vehicles have been sold. Metdker said that city parks departments often buy used brush trucks. Secondhand brush trucks are usually not used to fight fires.
The Celina Fire Department now has three ambulances, but one of those is going to be sold soon.
The fire department also has two antique fire trucks, a 1939 and 1967 Chevy trucks. Both still run, but are used only for community events and are not used to fight fires.
