Longtime Frisco resident of nearly 16 years, Chris Todd has announced that he is running for the Frisco ISD Board of Trustees Place 6 seat.
Todd, who said he has felt the inspirational push to run for many years said it was within the last several months that he had truly considered it and decided it was the right time.
"Part of that is just I've got three kids in Frisco schools right now," Todd said. "Just thinking about how fortunate we've been with our experiences within FISD from the administration, down to principals, to counselors, to all the teachers we've had; it's been such a tremendous experience for us."
Todd, who worked for a public accounting firm blank year, has served at the Chief Financial Officer for the Frisco based company, NT Logistics for 13 years.
"I have got a strong financial background which is , I think, one of the strengths and perspectives that I would be bringing to the school board," Todd said.
Some of his platforms he said, include the meeting the financial concerns the district faces as it continues to grow.
"Just from talking with current school board members and leadership, I think that some of the challenges that FISD is going to be facing in the coming years, is the continued growth and build out that we will have," Todd said. "And some of the financial challenges that are going to come along with that, related to Texas school finance."
Another issues that he addressed was important to him within the education sector is the size of the schools within FISD. He said that he believes the district has had a "vision" for keeping its schools within a 4A district, which he added has benefitted students because it allow everyone the opportunity to get involved rather than overcrowding.
Todd said he has been endorsed by several former FISD Board of Trustee Presidents including: Jimmy Gaffney, Buddy Minett, and Dan Presley.
"I've got three of the previous FISD presidents [that] have endorsed me and I feel good about that, I respect those men a lot," Todd said. "Bob Warren one of the former mayors of Frisco has endorsed me. I feel good about that support, and I think those men have a lot of respect within the community."
Todd said his family is excited about his campaign and he feels this experience is an opportunity for his children to see him "give back to the community."
He added that given the opportunity, he would not change anything within the district.
"I can't say there's any agenda or anything like that that I have going into this," he said. "I think that Frisco ISD has done a really good job of meeting the needs of our kids, as well as establishing a school district that's very appealing ... so I would say more than anything, just using my background to maintain and promote that even further."
