Taking out the trash
By Zach Markovic, zmarkovic@acnpapers.com
Town officials are inviting community members out to Jobson Park for the Sunnyvale Trash-Off.
The event is used to take advantage of an opportunity to get rid of those bulky household items, trash and clutter. This includes brush and cut limbs and town crews will be on hand to help unload.
“It is a great way to support citizen as they do some spring cleaning and trimming,” said Mayor Jim Phaup. “We hope to make it convenient for the citizens. We are going to crush what they bring us and take it away for them.”
He said the event is a great way for residents to come out and meet and speak with some of the town officials.
“It is not just the town staff that will be out there,” Phaup said. “But there will be other officials are out there to hear how people are doing. I plan on being out their in my hard hat.”
Town Manager Scott Campbell said the event has really truck a chord within the residence. Each year he said it seems to grow and they always take away more and more trash.
He said he does want to remind residents that there are some items they will not take as they do not have the capacity to deal with some trash.
Tires, concrete chemical of any kind, paint, units with or without Freon (freezers, refrigerators, air conditioning units, etc.), lawn equipment with oil or gas in them or batteries of any kind can not be dropped off. Restricted items can be delivered to 11234 Plano Rd. Dallas, TX 75243.
