Firetruck 'in the pink' to save lives

A firetruck parked across the street from the Little Elm Central Fire Station in July caused a few double takes. The standard rescue vehicle was painted in bright fire engine pink.
The pastel truck belongs to the Texas Lonestar chapter of Pink Firetrucks. Retired firefighter William “Billy” Longo dropped by the station with the truck.
This truck, known as Miss Ida, will be participating in the national Pink Heals tour. It will be in McKinney on Oct. 20.
Breast cancer survivors and their families and the families of those who have not survived breast cancer have signed the truck with their own messages.
Little Elm firefighters hope to have the truck at Autumn Fest in September. n the mean time, the rose-colored firetruck continues to attract attention to help fight the disease of breast cancer.
