Basketball: Carroll takes second in pair of summer tourneys

Members of the Carroll varsity basketball team have had a very productive summer. The squad just completed playing in the highly competitive DFW Metrocrest Summer League. The league consists of 32 teams from Class 4A and 5A and each team plays 12 regular games before competing in a single elimination tournament. In the tournament, the Dragons defeated Garland, Richardson Berkner, Hebron and Allen. In the Championship game they lost a hard-fought game against former District 6-5A rival Lewisville by three points.
The weekend prior to the Metrocrest Tournament, members of the Dragons participated in the OU Team Camp in Norman, Okla. Carroll again reached the championship round earning second place after falling against Edmond Memorial in the finals. Edmond finished the season ranked No. 5 in Oklahoma last season.
