Track and field: TAAF Region 4 results

Young athletes took to the burning track July 23-24 when they competed in a TAAF Region IV qualifier at Lake Dallas High School. The top six finishers in their respective events qualify to advance to the TAAF Games of Texas Aug. 5-8 at Baylor University in Waco.
Leading the way was Coppell resident Jordan Millspaugh, who took first in both the 800 and 1,600-meter runs competing for Lake Cities Track Team which is based out of Lewisville.
But The Colony Express also performed well, including grabbing multiple regional titles.
Regional champions included The Colony’s Nazhir Carter, who nabbed first in the 50-meter dash in the boys 8-and-under division, Southlake’s Jonathan Zapinski (boys 9-10 shot put), Lewisville’s Jake Watermiller (boys 11-12 high jump), Flower Mound’s Josh Music (boys 13-14 triple jump), Flower Mound’s Chris Perkins (boys 15-16 high jump), Lewisville’s Ryan Thomas (boys 17-18 800), Flower Mound’s Madison Meiner (girls 8U long jump), Lewisville’s Jasmine Snelick (girls 9-10 long jump), Lewisville’s Lindsay French (girls 11-12 1,600), Flower Mound’s Lauren Cox (girls 11-12 shot put), Southlake’s Emily Hart (girls 13-14 100 hurdles), Flower Mound’s Rachel Grossman (girls 13-14 long jump and triple jump).
